Scientists have found that orgasm has become "useless" for evolution, a phenomenon, a peculiar remnant of the past.
Female orgasm turned out to be a kind of atavism from the point of view of evolution - in the past it promoted ovulation and development of sex cells during mating, and now plays no role, say scientists in an article published in JEZ-Molecular and Developmental Evolution.
"In the past, our colleagues focused on what is now in human biology and those traits that could change in it, and almost did not try to understand how this trait-orgasm-could have evolved," said Guenther Wagner ( Gunther Wagner) from Yale University (USA).
Scientists and philosophers from the time of antiquity think about why women have fun while having sex. From the point of view of evolution, such a feature of the body makes no sense - it does not help women to become pregnant more often and to produce more children. Moreover, the females of our closest relatives, who lead a monogamous lifestyle - gibbons - do not experience orgasm in principle, which casts doubt on the "social" role of this feature of the sexual system of women.
Wagner and his colleague Michaela Pavlicev (Michaela Pavlicev) tried to reveal the role of orgasm, drawing attention to what is actually happening with the body of a woman when this condition comes, and comparing this with the behavior of the bodies of female monkeys and other mammals.
The main biological feature of orgasm, as scientists explain - is the release into the blood and splash in the concentration of a number of hormones, including oxytocin, the hormone of family happiness, and prolactin, the hormone of motherhood, which prepares the body of a woman for the development of the embryo and child. Something similar, as Pavlichev and Wagner discovered, occurs in the body of females of other mammalian species - a similar release of prolactin and oxytocin in their body occurs at the time when ovulation begins.
Ovulation in women, unlike animals, goes on its own and does not depend on the season or another important factor that causes ovulation in females of many other mammalian species - the smell or appearance of a suitable male.
The presence of such a feature in the sexual behavior of females in the most ancient mammalian species that exist today, speaks in favor of the fact that ovulation in the form of a male originated earlier than the cyclical ovulation of modern women. For this reason, it is likely that this process was the "grandfather" of modern orgasm with sex, the meaning of which disappeared after the body of women switched to a hidden cyclic ovulation, which does not allow the potential suitor to guess whether she is ready for mating or not.
According to the authors of the article, in favor of this is the fact that the clitoris "moved" as the person evolved from the inside of the female reproductive system to his current position, which reduced the probability of "accidental" triggering of this reflex during sexual acts.
Today, all these changes have lost their meaning, since the appearance of men today is not affected by the process of ovulation, and orgasm has become "useless" for evolution, a phenomenon, a peculiar remnant of the past. Read more: http://goodobjective.com/
